Judith A. Schevtchuk joined the firm on October 1, 2020.  She is continuing her family law practice which emphasizes problem-solving during difficult life transitions.  Her focus continues to be “What is best for the children?” 

Born in Indiana, Judy was raised in a multi-generational home and worked her way through college and law school.  Judy received both her BA in Political Science and her Juris Doctor from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and has worked in law firms, state government and in solo law practice.  Judy was a county prosecutor in Honolulu and Indianapolis, a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in California and Washington, DC, and served on active duty with the Navy in Washington, DC and with the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California.  Judy retired as a Commander after twenty years of combined active and reserve service as a judge advocate in the US Navy.   

She was admitted to the bar in Indiana and Illinois and then added the Hawaii bar in 1989, when her Navy husband got orders to Pearl Harbor and Hawaii became home. Initially employed as a Honolulu deputy prosecutor, Judy has specialized in family law since 1992.  She combines her investigative skills, compassion and trial advocacy with her personal experience raising children and caring for the elderly to advocate practical solutions.  Judy practiced at a large Honolulu firm from 2013 until joining this firm and continues to specialize in family law and family arbitration.

Judy served for nine years as a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Hawaii Supreme Court. She has been a Volunteer Settlement Master with the Family Court and provides training and mentoring in military family law. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Hawaii State Bar Association, Family Law Section.  

When she relaxes from her practice, Judy enjoys cooking, gardening, fixing up her old house, music and being Mom to her two adult daughters.  She enjoyed theater, concerts and entertaining family and friends.
